My Story

Embracing Nature's Beauty Through Art

My name is Bonnita and I am a Sussex-based artist working in Brighton, creating beautiful paintings inspired by the South Downs.

Since my early teens I have been drawn to nature, and that passion remains at the heart of my work today. I spend much of my time exploring the South Downs, sketching and painting directly from life. Being out on location allows me to capture the changing light, atmosphere and seasons, often with the changing meadow flowers as a focal point of my artworks. Back in the studio, I develop these free expressive studies into richly detailed fine oil paintings, which celebrate the colour, richness and quiet beauty of the rolling hills.

I have selected my favourite oil paintings to create a small range of giclée prints that showcase the essence of this landscape. Limited edition prints that bring the serenity and magic of the South Downs into your home, a daily reminder of nature’s quiet splendour. Whether you are drawn to chalk grassland, rolling hills, chalky paths, wide vistas or meadow flowers, I hope you find a view that sings South Downs to you.

My Vision

My vision is to create paintings that celebrate the timeless beauty of the South Downs, capturing its light, colour and changing seasons with honesty and care. Through working directly from the landscape and refining my paintings in the studio, I aim to capture the changing moods and seasons with a delicate eye creating works that feel both realistic and alive. I hope my art invites people to slow down, connect with nature, and experience the quiet magic of this unique chalkland landscape.
